The Coaches

We believe that the coaches who deliver the sessions are the most important part of our program. The success of In The Game is always going to be determined by the level of enjoyment of the students who are taking part. It is the responsibility of the In The Game Coach to ensure that each and every student is having the maximum amount of participation, enjoyment and success to ensure that they are motivated and enthusiastic about continuing to take part in physical activity and games.

To achieve this, the coach will ensure that they plan and deliver activities and games that are challenging, age and skill appropriate and most importantly fun!

The coach is not only the face of In The Game for the students, they will also be the point of contact for most other people around the school. Their interaction with teachers, principals, office staff, parents, lollypop ladies and anyone else that they see will be pleasant and professional at all times. At In The Game we only employ people who will be a credit to the business and are a pleasure to deal with, for both ourselves and any school that takes part in the program.

Another enormous benefit of the In The Game program and our coaches, is that the classroom teacher is not required to be present for the delivery of each session. Every In The Game coach has applied for, and been granted Permission To Teach by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (V.I.T). To achieve this qualification each applicant must satisfy the requirements of the V.I.T to demonstrate that they are an acceptable candidate to receive Permission To Teach. This involves the endorsement of a Victorian primary school principal, demonstration that the applicant possesses the skills and experience necessary to fulfil a teaching position in a Victorian primary school as well as a certified criminal record check. Once an application has been accepted and formally endorsed by the registration committee and V.I.T council, each individual is able to perform the duties of a registered teacher at any primary school in the state of Victoria. Therefore each classroom teacher is welcome to use their class’s In The Game session as relief time for planning and assessment. We definitely see this as a major bonus of the program, as we realise how difficult it can be to arrange relief time for classroom teachers.
